Weber scores twice as Preds dump Sharks

Feb 26, 2012 - 5:26 AM Nashville, TN (Sports Network) - Shea Weber scored twice as the Nashville Predators pummeled the San Jose Sharks, 6-2, at Bridgestone Arena.

Colin Wilson had a goal and an assist for the Predators, who have won four of their last five. Pekka Rinne stopped 32 shots in the win.

"I think we played well as a team against a good offensive team," said Weber. "Everybody did their job on the ice and Rinne was good in net. Good team win."

Joe Pavelski and Patrick Marleau each post a goal and an assist for the Sharks, who have fallen in six of their last seven games.

"We have to break these bad habits we've picked up," said Pavelski. "Losing six of seven at this time of the season is not acceptable."

Antti Niemi started in net but was pulled in the first as he gave up three goals on seven shots. Thomas Greiss finished the game between the pipes and stopped 11-of-13 shots.

The Preds got on the board two minutes in when Wilson got a pass in the slot from Jordin Tootoo and slapped it home.

Weber scored just over a minute later on a rush into the San Jose end that was finished when Martin Erat passed the puck from the low left side to the right and Weber slammed it home.

The Sharks cut it to one with 9:02 to play in the first as Marleau's shot from the slot with bodies in front got past Rinne for his 26th goal.

Nasvhille got the goal back exactly five minutes later when Kevin Klein's one- timer from the left circle got past Niemi, who was pulled from the net.

Just 23 seconds into the second, the Sharks again made it a one-goal game as Pavelski's one-timer from the right circle off a pass from Marleau found the back of the net.

The Predators were able to take a two-goal edge into the third period with a power-play goal as Weber's one-timer from the high slot got into the net with 7:56 left in the second.

Martin Erat scored an empty-netter with two minutes to play and Nick Spaling scored with under a minute to play to turn the game into a rout.
