Krejci lifts Bruins over Devils in OT

Mar 2, 2012 - 5:11 AM Boston, MA (Sports Network) - David Krejci scored the winner with 2:01 left in overtime as Boston took a 4-3 win over New Jersey at TD Garden.

In the extra session, a pass from behind the net by Patrice Bergeron was slowed down by Zdeno Chara, but he was unable to get a shot off. However, Krejci was backing up the play in the slot and he wristed it home for the win.

"I got a little lucky on that one," said Krejci. "He (Chara) tried to jam it and it got by him. I was just in the right place at the right time."

The goal capped the second career hat trick for Krejci while Tyler Seguin had a goal and an assist for the Bruins, who had dropped four of six coming in. Tim Thomas turned aside 28 shots.

Zach Parise, David Clarkson and Patrik Elias all scored for the Devils, who have dropped their past four games. Martin Brodeur was tagged for all four goals on 25 shots.

"We turned the puck over twice, once in overtime and the game-tying goal," said Brodeur. "They scored on both of them and that's the story of the game right there."

Boston scored just 1:13 in on a rush play that saw Seguin send a pass from the right wing to the slot with Krejci wristing it home.

It was a 2-0 game a little less than seven minutes later after Milan Lucic fired a pass from the low left circle back to the top where Seguin fired a wrist shot into the net.

The Devils made it a one-goal game just 6:27 into the second as a turnover saw a break the other way with Ilya Kovalchuk passing it from the left circle to the right and Parise wristing it in.

New Jersey then tied the contest after a shot from the left point bounced around in front and slid to the left where Elias was parked and he swept it in with 5:57 to play in the second.

The visitors took a 3-2 lead into the third period as Clarkson's wraparound from the left side found a hole through Thomas with 2:14 to play in the frame.

Boston tied the game 5 1/2 minutes into the third as a bouncing pass from Lucic found its way to the left side where Krejci chipped it home.
