Surging Stars welcome Ducks to Big D

Mar 10, 2012 - 4:15 PM (Sports Network) - The Dallas Stars try to earn a point in their 10th straight game this evening when they welcome the Anaheim Ducks to American Airlines Center.

Dallas won its fourth straight game on Thursday, as Tomas Vincour tied the contest late in the third and scored the only goal of the shootout to lift the Stars to a 4-3 win over the San Jose Sharks.

In the fifth round, Vincour lifted a backhand past Antti Niemi and Kari Lehtonen preserved the win when he stopped Logan Couture.

Jamie Benn posted a goal and an assist and Michael Ryder also scored for the Stars, who are 8-0-1 over their last nine and sit atop the Pacific Division with 79 points. Lehtonen made 45 stops and turned aside all five skaters in the shootout.

"It was great and it was a huge two points for us," said Vincour. "It doesn't matter who scores the goal as long as we get the points, but it was nice to help the team tonight."

Dallas hasn't recorded points in 10 straight games since going 9-0-0 with three ties from Dec. 27-Jan. 22, 2003.

"It's so tight and every game is important. That's what we've been doing lately -- playing for each other and playing really hard," right winger Loui Eriksson told the team's official website.

"We've been getting some big wins. It's always nice when you're winning as a team. That always helps too, when you play with that confidence. That's what we're doing now."

Anaheim, meanwhile, lost for the fourth time in six games on Thursday, falling 3-1 at St. Louis. Corey Perry scored the lone goal for Anaheim and Jonas Hiller gave up three goals on 27 shots in the loss.

"We're not working as a unit as much as we need to and it's tough," said Ducks forward Ryan Getzlaf. "We're doing a couple of different things than we're used to doing and we're not responding the way we need to."

Hiller, who is 0-3-0 with a 3.40 goals against in his last three road games, could continue to struggle tonight, as he is just 2-7-1 with a 3.11 GAA in his last 10 games versus the Stars.

Dallas has emerged with wins in four of its five meetings with the Ducks this season. Anaheim has also struggled as the road team in this series, dropping six of eight and seven of its last 10 in Big D.
