Ducks visit Oilers aiming to halt losing streak

Apr 5, 2012 - 3:17 PM (Sports Network) - The Anaheim Ducks will try to avoid a fourth straight loss when they visit the Edmonton Oilers at Rexall Place for tonight's battle between teams that have been eliminated from playoff contention.

The Ducks have lost three straight and are coming off Tuesday's shootout loss in Vancouver. Alexandre Burrows, Alexander Edler and Maxim Lapierre all scored in the shootout phase to help lift the Canucks to the 5-4 decision.

Ryan Getzlaf, Corey Perry, Rod Pelley and Devante Smith-Pelly scored in regulation for Anaheim, which last lost four in a row from Dec. 16-22.

Bobby Ryan dished out three assists in Tuesday's loss, while Jonas Hiller stopped 35 shots in defeat.

"I thought our guys did a great job of hanging in there and weathering the storm," Getzlaf said. "We got the thing into overtime and got a point."

The Ducks have two games left on their season-ending, three-game road trip. Anaheim, which will close its schedule Saturday in Calgary, is just 12-17-10 as the guest this season.

Edmonton lost for the third time in four games when it visited the Los Angeles Kings on Monday. Jonathan Quick made 19 saves for his 10th shutout of the season in Los Angeles' 2-0 win over the Oilers.

Devan Dubnyk made 35 stops in the loss for the Oilers.

"They played hard and wanted to win this hockey game, but so did we," said Dubnyk. "We wanted to play hard and return to Edmonton with our heads held high."

Tonight marks Edmonton's final home test of the season. The Oilers, who will complete their schedule Saturday in Vancouver, are 18-17-5 as the host this year.

Edmonton had lost five straight in its series with the Ducks before posting a 2-1 regulation win last Sunday in Anaheim. The Ducks have still won eight straight in Edmonton and haven't lost at Rexall Place since Nov. 30, 2007.
