Wild try to end skid against visiting Blue Jackets

Jan 29, 2013 - 4:12 PM (Sports Network) - Zach Parise has had little trouble racking up points to begin his Minnesota Wild career, but it hasn't translated into wins over the past week.

The Wild hope to snap a three-game slide on Tuesday night as they play host to the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Parise has logged nine points over his first five games with the Wild after signing a 13-year deal to join the club this past offseason. He has notched consecutive two-goal games for the second time in his career, but both have come in Minnesota setbacks.

In fact, the Wild have lost three in a row since beginning the season with consecutive wins and are coming off Sunday's 5-4 overtime loss to the St. Louis Blues.

Parise netted a pair of power-play goals and had an assist as the Wild failed to hold a two-goal lead in the second. St. Louis scored three straight goals to go up by one with 6:13 left in regulation, but Minnesota's Dany Heatley netted a tying tally just over two minutes later.

St. Louis then earned the extra point by scoring with 2:44 left in overtime as Vladimir Sobotka beat Niklas Backstrom, who ended with 29 saves.

"Very disappointed," Wild head coach Mike Yeo said. "It was a recipe for how to lose a game. ... There were more than several mistakes."

The Blue Jackets were able to minimize their mistakes on Monday night and snap a four-game losing streak (0-3-1) with a 2-1 victory over the visiting Dallas Stars. Derek Dorsett scored in the second period and Vinny Prospal had the winner early in the third, scoring from a sharp angle.

Sergei Bobrovsky turned aside 24 Dallas shots, including 11 in the third period, to preserve the Blue Jackets' first win since opening night.

"(Bobrovsky) made some big saves at key times and our guys sacrificed and made some big plays as well defensively and that's what it takes to win games," said Columbus forward Brandon Dubinsky.

Columbus won despite going 0-for-7 on the power play, including a 5-on-3 for a full two minutes in the second period.

Though the Blue Jackets have won three of their last four on the road against Minnesota, the Wild are 15-5-2 all-time against the club at home.

Columbus has won six of the past nine encounters overall.
