Wild edge Predators on Setoguchi's OT tally

Feb 10, 2013 - 4:41 AM St. Paul, MN (Sports Network) - Devin Setoguchi scored the game-winner with 39 seconds left in overtime to lift the Minnesota Wild to a 2-1 triumph over the Nashville Predators on Saturday at Xcel Energy Center.

Cal Clutterbuck also the lit the lamp, while Ryan Suter added a pair of assists to help the Wild snap a three-game skid.

Niklas Backstrom stopped 25 shots, including 12 in the third period, to earn the victory.

Chris Mason saved 30-of-32 shots for the Predators, who saw their four-game winning streak come to an end.

"It's disappointing," Mason said of the loss. "I think with the way the schedule is, you don't have time to dwell on it and you have to try to take the positives and move forward. That's what we're going to do tonight, just be thankful for the point."

Paul Gaustad scored the lone Nashville goal, but was called for a controversial hand pass in the faceoff circle at the 2:48 mark of overtime to set up Setoguchi's power-play tally.

After Backstrom helped the Wild kill off a pair of penalties in the third, including Setoguchi's double-minor at the 6:18 mark, Minnesota made good on its fourth power play of the contest late in the extra session.

With a faceoff in the Nashville zone just past the midpoint of overtime, Gaustad stepped into the faceoff circle and as he tried to win the draw, the puck deflected off his glove and he was sent to the box for delay of game.

While on the man advantage, Mikko Koivu made a nice feed from the right dot to Setoguchi in the left circle. Setoguchi then one-timed a blast past a sprawling Mason to send the Wild to victory at the 4:21 mark.

"We knew it was going to be tough," Setoguchi said of playing the Predators. "Luckily we got that call in overtime."

Nashville struck first near the midpoint of the opening period when Gaustad pounded home a rebound off a Craig Smith shot for a 1-0 edge at the 10:11 mark.

Minnesota scored the equalizer with just over seven minutes left in the second when Suter ripped a shot from the high slot that Clutterbuck deflected through the five-hole of Mason to make it 1-1 at the 12:59 mark.
