Crawford, Blackhawks blank Preds

Feb 11, 2013 - 5:41 AM Nashville, TN (Sports Network) - Corey Crawford stopped 17 shots to notch his sixth career shutout, as the Chicago Blackhawks blanked the Nashville Predators, 3-0, on Sunday at Bridgestone Arena.

Marcus Kruger, Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane each scored once for the Blackhawks, who won the final four games of a six-game road trip after opening the trek with back-to-back shootout losses.

"It was a great trip from start to finish," Chicago coach Joel Quenneville said. "The last couple of games were our best."

The Blackhawks (10-0-2) are the first team to 10 wins and remain the only club in the league without a regulation loss.

Pekka Rinne recorded 24 saves in the setback, Nashville's second in a row.

Chicago outshot Nashville, 10-3, in the opening stanza, but Rinne turned away all comers to keep the game scoreless heading into the second period.

The Blackhawks finally broke through against the Nashville netminder with a pair of goals just 66 seconds apart in the middle stanza.

The first came at the 6:14 mark when Kruger ripped a snap shot from the high slot that sailed past the stick side of Rinne to make it 1-0.

Then, Duncan Keith flipped a backhander from just inside the right circle that deflected off Toews in front and snuck over the head of Rinne for a 2-0 edge.

Kane followed by extending his goal streak to five games early in the third when he threw a shot on net from the low left boards that somehow got past Rinne to make it 3-0 at the 4:27 mark.

Crawford kept the shutout intact by stopping all 10 shots he faced in the final frame.

"You have to give them credit, but at the same time we weren't getting pucks and bodies to the net," Nashville forward Colin Wilson said. "We were playing an outskirts game."
