Lightning try to get back on track vs. Habs

Feb 12, 2013 - 4:10 PM (Sports Network) - The Tampa Bay Lightning will hope that a return home can get them back on track as they try to stop a four-game slide in a meeting with the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday.

The Lightning won six of their first seven games of the season before dropping the finale of a five-game homestand on Feb. 2. It was their first loss in six games as the host and the Bolts followed up by losing the first two of what was supposed to be a four-game swing, dropping tests in Philadelphia and New Jersey.

Tampa Bay's meeting with Boston on Saturday was postponed due to a blizzard, but the club dropped a 5-1 decision the next day to the New York Rangers.

Vincent Lecavalier scored the lone goal for the Lightning, who have dropped each game during their skid in regulation. Mathieu Garon was pulled after giving up three goals on 19 shots in almost 30 minutes of action. Anders Lindback allowed two more scores on 13 shots the rest of the way.

One bright spot was rookie Alex Killorn picking up his first career point with an assist on Lecavalier's goal. The 23-year-old made his NHL debut after forward Ryan Malone was a late scratch due to a lower body injury.

"I think I got the jitters out of the way in the first period," said Killorn. "I felt a lot better in the second."

The Canadiens will also be looking to end a losing streak on Tuesday as they fell for the third straight game on Saturday. Montreal had dropped back-to- back one-goal games before getting routed 6-0 by the visiting Toronto Maple Leafs.

Carey Price stopped 21-of-27 shots in the loss, getting beat just 59 seconds into the game.

"We had a really, really slow start and they beat us with speed," Montreal coach Michel Therrien said. "They were ready to play and we were not ready to play."

Given the history between the rivals and the lopsided score, it came as no surprise that things got testy in the third period. In addition to a number of fights and other rough stuff, Montreal's Max Pacioretty came out of the game accusing Toronto's Mikhail Grabovski of biting him during a scrum.

However, the league announced on Monday following a telephone hearing that there would be no supplemental discipline towards Grabovski.

The Habs and Bolts split four meetings last season, with each team winning both of its home games. The Lightning have won four of the past five in Tampa.
