Souray leads Ducks past Blackhawks
Mar 30, 2013 - 4:35 AM Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - Sheldon Souray scored the game-winner with 2:08 to play as the Anaheim Ducks took a 2-1 win over the Chicago Blackhawks at United Center.Corey Perry had the other goal for the Ducks, who snapped a four-game losing streak. Jonas Hiller stopped 25 shots in the win.
"That's the way we have to play," said Perry. "I thought we had a great game tonight. We were in on the forecheck, we were playing with the puck."
Patrick Kane had the only goal of the game for the Blackhawks, who have lost three of their last four. Ray Emery gave up both goals on 24 shots to suffer his first loss in 16 games played this season.
"We battled back and tied the game, but those last couple of minutes we gave up a goal on a funny bounce and those things happen," said Emery. "It's one of those things we have to be mindful at the end of the game."
Chicago tied the game at the 2:26 mark of the third on the power play when Kane received a pass from Duncan Keith and skated down to the right circle before rifling a shot into the right corner for his 18th of the year.
Anaheim, though, took the lead later after Souray's huge blast from the left point deflected off the stick of a Hawk and went past Emery.
Chicago got a late power play while Francois Beauchemin was called for slashing and pulled Emery for a 6-on-4, but it came with four seconds left and the team was unable to get a shot off before the clock expired.
After a scoreless first period, the Ducks took a 1-0 lead just 1:15 into the second period when Bobby Ryan chipped the puck ahead to Perry, who skated down the right wing and wristed the puck into the far side for his 11th of the season.
