Oct 14, 2006 - 2:53 PM NY Rangers (2-2-0) at Buffalo (4-0-0) 7:00 pm EDT

BUFFALO, New York (Ticker) -- The Buffalo Sabres have not started a season on this kind of roll in a long time.

Off to their best start since they opened the 1974-75 season with eight straight wins, the Sabres look for their fifth consecutive win Saturday against the New York Rangers, who have dropped their last two contests.

Ales Kotalik scored the go-ahead shootout goal to lead the Sabres to a 3-2 victory over the Detroit Red Wings on Friday. Buffalo defeated Dominik Hasek, who starred for the Sabres from 1992-2001.

Buffalo already has three shootout victories this season and have won their four regular season games by a combined four goals.

The Rangers suffered a 6-5 defeat to Pittsburgh Thursday on Sidney Crosby's game-winning goal with four seconds remaining in the third period.

Jaromir Jagr had a goal and two assists while Henrik Lundqvist stopped 16 shots. The Rangers have yielded a total of 10 goals in their last two defeats.
