Struggling Senators try to get on track
Oct 14, 2006 - 3:12 PM Ottawa (1-3-0) at Montreal (2-0-1) 7:00 pm EDTMONTREAL (Ticker) -- It is still early in the season for the Ottawa Senators to panic, but it might be time for some mild concern.
The struggling Senators try to shake off the early season doldrums when they tangle with their Northeast Division rival Montreal Canadiens on Saturday.
Ottawa started the season with a 4-1 victory over Toronto, but since have dropped three straight. The latest defeat was a 1-0 loss to the Calgary Flames on Thursday
Goaltender Ray Emery stopped 27 of 28 shots in a solid performance, but one problem was Ottawa's fizzling power play. The Senators were blanked in six tries with the extra skater and are 1-for-25 (4.0 percent) this season, ranking 29th in the league.
Montreal has won its last two games, the latest a 3-1 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers on Wednesday.
Canadiens backup netminder David Aebischer was sharp in stopping 27 of 28 shots while Alexei Kovalev, Michael Ryder and Christopher Higgins scored for Montreal.
No one has shouted yet.
