Unpredictable Maple Leafs host Flames

Oct 14, 2006 - 3:24 PM Calgary (2-2-0) at Toronto (2-1-2) 7:00 pm EDT

TORONTO (Ticker) -- The Toronto Maple Leafs already might have some of their more ardent supporters tossing and turning in the middle of the night.

The unpredictable Leafs, who have played some wacky games already this season, host the Calgary Flames on Saturday.

Toronto, which opened its season with an uninspired 4-1 loss at home against the Ottawa Senators on October 4, rebounded the very next night and unexpectedly hammered the Senators, 6-0, in Ottawa.

After splitting its next two games, Toronto lost a wild 7-6 shootout to the New Jersey Devils on Thursday. Matthew Stajan had two goals while Alexei Ponikarovsky and Jeff O'Neill each had a goal and an assist.

Toronto netminder Jean-Sebastien Aubin struggled in allowing six goals on 30 shots before the shootout commenced.

Calgary started its four-game eastern road trip with a 1-0 victory over the Ottawa Senators on Thursday.

Jarome Iginla score the game's only goal at 11:25 of the third period off a setup from Kristian Huselius and Matthew Lombardi while Miikka Kiprusoff made 33 saves in recording his 18th career shutout.

The Flames, despite being 2-2-0, have only scored five goals this season but have only surrendered eight.
