Blackhawks, Avalanche try to rebound from losses
Oct 16, 2006 - 2:33 PM Chicago (2-2-0) at Colorado (1-1-2) 9:00 pm EDTDENVER (Ticker) -- The Chicago Blackhawks got a taste of their own medicine in their latest loss, and they look to rebound against the Colorado Avalanche on Monday.
The Blackhawks, who were super on the power play in the preseason and have been solid during the regular season, relinquished three power-play tallies in a 4-3 loss to the St. Louis Blues on Saturday.
Chicago was blanked in six opportunities with the extra man against St. Louis but is still a solid 4-for-19 (21.1 percent) this season.
Blackhawks backup goaltender Brian Boucher made his season debut, but was not sharp in allowing four goals on 28 shots.
Martin Havlat continued his hot start with two goals while Bryan Smolinski had the other Blackhawks goal. Havlat is tied for first in the league with six goals and 10 points.
The Avalanche also try to rebound from a loss, as they dropped a 4-3 decision to the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday. Colorado outshot Edmonton, 42-25.
Tyler Arnason, Milan Hejduk and rookie Wojtek Wolski scored for the Avalanche, who went 0-for-4 on the power play. Jose Theodore allowed four goals on 25 shots.
No one has shouted yet.
