Canucks, Oilers meet in rematch
Oct 17, 2006 - 2:17 PM Vancouver (3-2-1) at Edmonton (3-2-0) 9:00 pm EDTEDMONTON, Alberta (Ticker) -- If the concept of familiarity breeding contempt is true, the Vancouver Canucks and Edmonton Oilers could engage in a spirited hockey game on Tuesday when they meet for the second time in as many nights.
The Northwest Division rivals clashed on Monday night in Vancouver, and the Canucks emerged with a 2-1 victory.
Sami Salo scored the eventual game-winner when he beat Edmonton netminder Dwayne Roloson at 13:32 of the second period.
Raffi Torres gave the Oilers a 1-0 lead early in the second period, but Vancouver's Taylor Pyatt tied it at one when he beat Vancouver goaltender Roberto Luongo just over six minutes later.
Vancouver outshot the Oilers, 38-17 while both teams were blanked in six power-play opportunities.
The Oilers have been decent on the power play (6-for-30, 20 percent) this season while Canucks have not been as efficient in going 4-for-29 (13.8 percent).
No one has shouted yet.
