Blue Jackets stun Ducks in Anaheim

Feb 4, 2014 - 6:43 AM Anaheim, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Sergei Bobrovsky came up with 34 saves and Nick Foligno scored twice in the third period to fuel a 4-2 victory for Columbus over Anaheim at Honda Center.

R.J. Umberger totaled a goal and one assist with Ryan Johansen providing the other marker for the Blue Jackets, winners of three straight after losing three in a row.

"We were better tonight but we still have to get better in terms of playing the third period with a lead," Columbus head coach Todd Richards said.

Mathieu Perreault and Ryan Getzlaf tallied for the Ducks, who have lost two in a row and three of four. Frederik Andersen stopped 29 shots in the setback.

"They came out and they played hard. Their goaltender played well early and we just didn't respond. We didn't keep playing the game," Getzlaff said.

The Ducks cracked the scoreboard at the 5:45 mark of the third, pulling within 2-1 on Perreault's tap-in of a Patrick Maroon pass into the low slot.

However, the Jackets restored their two-goal margin just over three minutes later after Foligno tapped home an Umberger offering which Anderson kicked right to him atop the crease.

Columbus led 4-1 during a 5-on-3 advantage when Foligno alertly tracked a muted Cam Atkinson shot from the left side of the crease and popped it home from the opposite wing.

Getzlaf made it a two-goal contest with 3:19 to play, then Andersen was pulled for an extra skater as 1:36 remained on the clock, but the hosts had nothing left in the tank.

Johansen gave the visitors the lead at 11:10 of the first on a snap shot from the left circle.

It was 2-0 for Columbus at 16:43 of the second. More than a minute into a power play created when Bryan Allen was sent off for tripping, James Wisniewski's low shot from the left point was redirected home by Umberger in the slot.
