ATLANTA (Ticker) - The Atlanta Thrashers attempt to produce back-to-back wins over the Washington Capitals on Thursday.

Last Saturday, Ilya Kovalchuk, who had two assists, scored the game-winning goal 3:02 into overtime as the Thrashers escaped with a 4-3 victory over the Capitals.

Kovalchuk, the league's leading goal scorer since 2002-03, has 13 tallies and 27 points in 23 career games against Washington.

Goaltender Kari Lehtonen had 35 saves for Atlanta, which has won four of its last five contests.

While Atlanta has been off, Washington wiped away consecutive overtime setbacks with a 5-2 triumph over Florida on Wednesday. Alexander Semin had a goal and an assist and Richard Zednik added two assists for the Capitals, who scored all five goals in the opening period.

Chris Clark, defenseman Jamie Heward, Kris Beech and Matt Bradley all tallied for Washington, which received 34 stops from netminder Olaf Kolzig.
