Canucks continue five-game road trip against Blues

Oct 20, 2006 - 1:52 PM Vancouver (3-3-1) at St Louis (2-3-1) 8:00 pm EDT

ST. LOUIS (Ticker) - The Vancouver Canucks' five-game road trip continues when they face the St. Louis Blues on Friday.

After playing St. Louis, Vancouver visits Dallas, Chicago and Nashville before returning home to host Washington on October 27.

The Canucks' trip got off to a bad start when they dropped a 2-1 decision to the Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday. Markus Naslund scored the lone goal for Vancouver, which was blanked in eight power-play chances.

Backup goaltender Dany Sabourin got the start in place of Roberto Luongo and made 18 saves.

St. Louis tries to rebound from a 5-2 home defeat to the Phoenix Coyotes on Tuesday. Manny Legace struggled between the pipes, stopping only 28 of 32 shots.

Radek Dvorak and Martin Rucinsky scored for St. Louis, which went 0-for-8 with the extra skater.

The Blues are only 4-for-32 (12.5 percent) on the power play, while the Canucks have also struggled in going 5-for-35 (14.3 percent) with the man advantage.

Despite being the worst club in the NHL last season, the Blues dominated the Canucks, sweeping the four-game series while outscoring Vancouver, 16-4.
