Maple Leafs return home to face Rangers

TORONTO (Ticker) -- The Toronto Maple Leafs return to the Air Canada Centre on Saturday to host the New York Rangers. But the way things have been going for the Leafs at home, they may wish the game was in New York.

Toronto was booed by the home fans during a lackluster 4-1 loss to the Colorado Avalanche on Wednesday. The Maple Leafs, 2-0-1 on the road this season, are just 2-2-1 on home ice.

The latest road victory came over the Columbus Blue Jackets, 4-2, on Friday. After defenseman Bryan McCabe gave the Leafs a 1-0 lead midway through the first period, Michael Peca and Kyle Wellwood scored 34 seconds apart late in the period to give the Leafs a 3-1 lead.

Goaltender Andrew Raycroft made 23 saves for Toronto, which went 1-for-4 on the power play.

The slumping Rangers have lost four of their last five games. Their latest defeat came at the hands of the Nashville Predators, 3-0, on Wednesday. New York outshot Nashville, 38-27, but could not convert on eight power-play opportunities.

The Rangers are just 7-for-43 (16.3 percent) with the extra man this year.

Rangers netminder Henrik Lundqvist has gotten off to a shaky start in going 3-3-0 with a 3.49 goals-against average and a .880 save percentage.

While Lundqvist has struggled, New York right wing Jaromir Jagr is off to a great start with two goals and nine assists for 11 points in seven games.
