Predators look to keep momentum going in return home

NASHVILLE, Tennessee (Ticker) -- The Nashville Predators recently concluded a three-game east-coast road sweep, and look to keep the wins coming in their return home.

The Predators seek their fifth straight victory when they host the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday.

Nashville completed the sweep of its road trip with a 4-3 shootout victory over the New Jersey Devils on Thursday. The Predators led, 3-1, late in the third period but allowed two goals in the final two minutes.

After a scoreless overtime, Martin Erat scored the only goal of the shootout and Chris Mason denied all three Devils shooters to give the Predators the victory.

The Canucks, in the midst of a five-game road trip, got two clutch goals in a huge 3-2 overtime triumph over the St. Louis Blues on Friday.

Vancouver trailed, 2-1, but Markus Naslund tied the game, 2-2, on a power-play goal with just 25 seconds left in the third period. Then things got interesting in the overtime.

The Canucks' Sami Salo took a shot from the point which sailed through a maze of players past St. Louis goaltender Curtis Sanford as the clock read 0.00.

The angry Blues thought the goal should not have counted and did not leave the ice. But the referees met, contacted replay officials in the press box and allowed the goal.

Taylor Pyatt scored the other goal for the Canucks, who went 2-for-11 on the power play.
