Stars look to continue hot start against last-place Coyotes

Oct 21, 2006 - 2:35 PM Dallas (6-1-0) at Phoenix (2-5-0) 10:00 pm EDT

GLENDALE, Arizona (Ticker) -- The Dallas Stars are off to a great start after a remarkable win.

The Stars on Saturday will take on the last-place Phoenix Coyotes in a Pacific Division matchup.

The Stars used four third-period goals to continue their dominance over the Chicago Blackhawks and help keep them tied for first place with the San Jose Sharks.

Philippe Boucher scored the game-winning goal after Mike Ribeiro tied the game 34 seconds earlier as the Stars posted a wild 5-4 victory over the Blackhawks.

Boucher blasted a slap shot from the point to snap a 4-4 tie with 40 seconds remaining.

Trailing 3-1, Mike Modano and Jere Lehtinen also tallied in the final session for the Stars to tie the game with 5:34 remaining. After the Blackhawks' Martin LaPointe snapped the 3-3 tie by scoring on a delayed penalty, the Stars scored the final two goals.

In their last contest on Thursday, the Coyotes allowed four power-play goals in a 4-0 loss to the Los Angeles Kings. Mike Morrison and Curtis Joseph combined for 27 saves for Phoenix, which outshot the Kings, 40-31.

Morrison has now allowed 10 goals in three games this season for the Coyotes, who went 3-4-1 against its Pacific Division rival last season and has five wins in its last 15 home games against Dallas.
