Thrashers, Panthers wrap up home-and-home series

Oct 23, 2006 - 2:31 PM Atlanta (6-1-1) at Florida (4-4-1) 7:30 pm EDT

SUNRISE, Florida (Ticker) -- The Atlanta Thrashers conclude a home-and-home series with the Florida Panthers while also beginning a five-game road trip Monday.

The Thrashers took the opener of the set, 4-2, on Saturday for their third straight win. Marian Hossa scored two goals while goaltender Kari Lehtonen made 18 saves.

Atlanta is 2-0-0 on the road this season with a pair of one-goal victories.

Chris Gratton and Joe Nieuwendyk both tallied and netminder Alex Auld turned away 20 shots for the Panthers, who have dropped three of their last four contests.

Despite the recent slide, Florida is 4-0-0 at home, claiming a 3-2 win over Philadelphia on Friday.

The Thrashers have won both meetings with the Panthers this season, rolling to 6-0 victory on October 7.
