Getzlaf, Hiller help Ducks crush Canucks

ANAHEIM, California (Ticker) -- Ryan Getzlaf scored two first-period goals and rookie goalie Jonas Hiller recorded a shutout as the Anaheim Ducks completed their preseason with a 5-0 victory over the Vancouver Canucks Sunday night.

Anaheim took a 1-0 lead 4:27 into the game as defenseman Kent Huskins took a shot from the right point which Canucks netminder Curtis Sanford saved, but Getzlaf buried the rebound as Todd Bertuzzi crashed the net.

Getzlaf scored again on a power play at 16:28, gathering his own rebound, and skating behind the net and wrapping the puck into the open right side for a 2-0 advantage.

Hiller, who helped Davos of the Swiss National League win its league title last year, made 40 saves for the defending Stanley Cup champions.

Todd Bertuzzi, playing the first game against his former team since being traded to Florida in June 2006, had a goal and two assists. After assisting on Getzlaf's second goal and Francois Beauchemin's goal to make it 3-0, the right winger scored a power play goal in the third period to cap the scoring.

Another notable player, Bobby Ryan, the second overall pick in the 2005 draft, had four assists for Anaheim. The 20-year-old is vying for a spot on the Ducks roster.

The Ducks, who will fly to London Monday to prepare for their season opener Saturday against Los Angeles, went 3-3-1 in the preseason.

Sanford, trying to earn the backup spot behind Roberto Luongo, made 34 saves on 39 shots for Vancouver, which will face San Jose in its final exhibition game at home.
