Maple Leafs, Senators meet for second home-and-home series

Oct 24, 2006 - 2:53 PM Ottawa (3-4-0) at Toronto (4-2-3) 7:30 pm EDT

TORONTO (Ticker) -- The Toronto Maple Leafs and Ottawa Senators are at each others' throats again.

The Maple Leafs try to make it two in a row over the Senators in their second home-and-home series of the season Tuesday.

Following a 4-1 shortcoming in the season opener on October 4, Toronto bounced back with a 6-0 victory over Ottawa the next day as Chad Kilger and Darcy Tucker scored two goals apiece and goaltender Andrew Raycroft made 34 saves.

However, the Maple Leafs have done very little to impress since then, losing four of their last seven games. Included in that slump is a 5-4 shootout loss to the New York Rangers on Saturday.

Tucker continued his early-season tear with two goals and Michael Peca and defenseman Ian White both finished with two assists.

Meanwhile, the Senators are riding high following an 8-1 rout of the New Jersey Devils on Saturday. Dean McAmmond and Antoine Vermette both scored twice and netminder Ray Emery had 34 saves.

Ottawa, which will host Toronto on Thursday, is seeking its third straight road win to start the season.
