Wild return home to host Kings
Oct 25, 2006 - 2:50 PM Los Angeles (3-5-2) at Minnesota (7-1-0) 8:00 pm EDTST. PAUL, Minnesota (Ticker) -- The Minnesota Wild took two-of-three games on their recent West Coast road trip, and they return home to face the Los Angeles Kings on Wednesday in search of their sixth straight home victory.
The Wild defeated the Kings, 2-1, last Wednesday to start the trip on a positive note.
Minnesota finished it with a 4-1 triumph over the San Jose Sharks on Saturday. Stephane Veilleux and Wes Walz each had a goal and an assist to lead the Wild, who were outshot, 32-18.
Minnesota right wing Marian Gaborik will miss another 10-to-14 days with a mild groin strain. Gaborik was hurt in Friday's 2-1 loss at Anaheim.
The Kings try to rebound from a lopsided 6-1 loss to the Colorado Avalanche on Monday, the first of their four-game road trip.
Derek Armstrong scored Los Angeles' only goal at 5:10 of the first period. Kings goaltender Dan Cloutier was lifted after only stopping 26-of-32 shots.
Cloutier has not been sharp this season, going 1-4-1 with a 3.73 goals-against average.
