Bruins look to end slide against Coyotes

GLENDALE, Arizona (Ticker) -- The Boston Bruins will try to earn their first win of the season on Saturday when they face the Phoenix Coyotes.

The Bruins were routed in their first game of the new campaign on Friday, losing 4-1 to the Dallas Stars. Boston now has a seven-game losing streak dating to last season.

Patrice Bergeron scored the Bruin's only goal against the Stars in the season opener. The 22-year-old center was a bright spot for Boston last season, scoring 22 goals while adding 48 assists.

The Coyotes are trying to start the season with two wins for the first time since 2003 after edging the St. Louis Blues, 3-2, in their season opener on Thursday. Mikael Tellqvist was terrific in net, stopping 22 of 24 shots.

Tellqvist, who struggled in 30 games for the Coyotes last season, posting a 3.39 goals-against average and .885 save percentage, will have plenty of pressure to succeed this season. Phoenix's new general manger Don Maloney signed goaltenders David Aebischer and Alex Auld during the offseason.
