Chelios to set another milestone vs. former team

DETROIT (Ticker) - Chris Chelios will reach another milestone in his long and storied career when the Detroit Red Wings host the Edmonton Oilers on Monday.

Chelios is set to play in his 1,550th game, which would move him past former Red Wing Alex Delvecchio for eighth place all-time. The 45-year-old defenseman, who played with the Blackhawks from 1990-1999, is beginning his 24th NHL season and could later pass Ray Bourque and Larry Murphy on the list.

Left wing Henrik Zetterberg, who will celebrate his 28th birthday on Tuesday, already has five points - one goal and four assists - through two games after ending the 2006 regular season with nine goals and nine assists during a seven-game point streak from February 11-24 before succumbing to back spasms. He has scored in each of the last nine regular season games in which he has played.

The Red Wings are coming off Saturday's 4-3 shootout loss at Chicago.

Mathieu Garon made his Edmonton debut in Saturday's 5-3 home win over the Philadelphia. But regular goaltender Dwayne Roloson figures to be back in net for this contest after playing all 65 minutes in Thursday's 3-2 shootout win over San Jose.
