Penguins survive scare, expect Crosby back vs. Canadiens
Oct 10, 2007 - 1:48 PM Montreal (1-0-1) at Pittsburgh (1-1-0) 7:00 pm. EDTPITTSBURGH (Ticker) -- The Pittsburgh Penguins couldn't have been happier after defeating the reigning Stanley Cup champions. However, they sure would not have minded arriving at that result a bit differently.
The Penguins hope to have superstar Sidney Crosby in the lineup Wednesday when they host the Montreal Canadiens.
In Pittsburgh's 5-4 victory over the Anaheim Ducks on Saturday, center Sidney Crosby was struck on the right foot attempting to block a shot from Ducks defenseman Francois Beauchemin.
The reigning Hart Trophy winner needed a few moments to collect himself, but returned to the game without missing a shift.
Crosby is expected to play Wednesday, when the Penguins vie for their second straight home win.
The first overall pick in the 2005 draft, Crosby has five goals and nine assists in eight games against Montreal.
The Canadiens complete their season-opening, three-game road trip after picking up three points through their first two games.
Montreal goaltender Cristobal Huet has managed a 2.89 goals-against average and has stopped 56 of 62 shots. He is 3-0 with a 1.46 GAA and one career shutout against the Penguins.
