Ducks finally return home to face Bruins
Oct 10, 2007 - 9:00 PM Boston (1-1-0) at Anaheim (1-3-1) 10:00 pm EDTANAHEIM, California (Ticker) - The Anaheim Ducks have traveled just about everywhere this season.
The defending Stanley Cup champion Ducks will finally get a taste of home cooking when they take on the Boston Bruins on Wednesday.
After starting the season in London, the Ducks played their next three games on the road as well.
Wednesday's game marks the beginning of a stretch where Anaheim will play 11 of its next 14 games at home. On Wednesday, the Ducks will raise their 2007 Stanley Cup, Western Conference and Pacific Division championship banners to the Honda Center ceiling, with the opening faceoff taking place following the conclusion of a pre-game ceremony.
While Ducks starting netminder Jean-Sebastien Giguere continues to recover from sports hernia surgery, Ilya Bryzgalov and Jonas Hiller have combined to post a 2.97 goals-against average in the team's five games.
Corey Perry and Chris Kunitz have each scored three goals for Anaheim, while defenseman Francois Beauchemin leads the team with four assists.
While the Ducks are playing their first home game, Anaheim is the third stop on a five-game road trip for Boston.
Patrice Bergeron has scored in each of the Bruins' first two games thus far. Marc Savard has recorded two assists for Boston.
The Bruins, who ended last season winning just one of their last 12 games, defeated Phoenix, 3-1, on Saturday.
