Lightning look to remain unbeaten against Panthers

TAMPA, Florida (Ticker) -- The Tampa Bay Lightning look to continue their fast start when they take on their Sunshine State rivals, the Florida Panthers, on Wednesday.

The Lightning have outscored their opponents, 8-3, in the first two games of the season while Florida is still looking for its first points.

Vaclav Prospal, Vincent Lecavalier and Brad Richards have combined to score all eight goals while Martin St. Louis has recorded five assists for Tampa Bay.

The 32-year-old Prospal, who had 14 goals last season, tallied twice in Tampa Bay's 5-2 victory over Atlanta on Saturday.

Johan Holmqvist has been strong in the Lightning's first two games, stopping 39 of 42 shots.

Florida goaltender Tomas Vokoun, however, has allowed nine goals on 49 shots, while the Panthers have only scored three times in two games.

Rookie defenseman Cory Murphy scored the team's lone goal in a 4-1 loss to New Jersey on Saturday.

Florida has won 11 of the past 16 meetings between the two clubs.
