Canucks looking to rebound against Oilers

EDMONTON, Alberta (Ticker) -- The Vancouver Canucks never have won six straight games against the Edmonton Oilers.

But the Canucks will have an opportunity to achieve that feat when they visit their Northwest Division rivals on Friday night.

Vancouver could be in an angry mood as it is coming off an 8-2 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers, matching its worst defeat in nearly a year. The Canucks had not lost a game by six goals since a 6-0 defeat to the Anaheim Ducks in November of last season.

After leading the NHL last season in penalty killing (86.9 percent), Vancouver gave up two power-plays goals against the Flyers. The Canucks had surrendered only one power-play marker in the previous 13 chances.

Usually reliable Roberto Luongo was pulled against the Flyers after surrendering four goals on just 13 shots. Luongo has a 4.22 goals-against average early in the season.

The Oilers, who lost 18 of their final 20 games last season, have split their first four games this season.

After opening the season with wins over San Jose and Philadelphia, Edmonton has dropped its last two, getting outscored, 6-2, and outshot, 61-41.

Despite the rough start, goalie Dwayne Roloson has been solid in net, posting a 2.32 GAA with a .922 save percentage.

Roloson is 11-10-2-2 lifetime against the Canucks.
