Struggling teams meet as Kings host Bruins

LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- A struggling offense meets a struggling defense on Friday when the Boston Bruins take on the Los Angeles Kings at the Staples Center.

The Bruins have scored just five times in the first three games of the season, while Los Angeles has allowed 14 goals in their last three contests.

Boston, which lost to Anaheim, 2-1, on Wednesday, is playing the fourth of its season-opening five-game road trip.

Patrice Bergeron and Chuck Kobasew have each scored two goals for the Bruins, who have won just three of their last 18 games, dating to last season.

The Kings, who are opening a three-game homestand, have dropped three straight since winning their season opener against Anaheim on September 29 in London. Los Angeles is coming off a 5-1 loss to Dallas on Wednesday.

Michael Cammalleri leads Los Angeles with four goals and Anze Kopita has tallied five assists.

Los Angeles defeated Boston, 6-0, on January 12, 2006 in the last meeting between the teams.

This marks the Bruins' first trip to the Staples Center since October 18, 2003.
