Flames aim for consecutive wins

NASHVILLE, Tennessee (Ticker) - The Calgary Flames will try to build off their recent success when they visit the Nashville Predators on Saturday.

Matthew Lombardi scored twice, including the winner in overtime, to lift the Flames to a 3-2 victory over the Dallas Stars on Friday. It was the first win of the season, snapping a three-game winless start.

The victory was also the first for Mike Keenan as coach of the Flames. Keenan also halted a drought against the Stars, collecting his first win over them since December 14, 2001 - a span of eight contests.

"It was a really hard game, and I'm really proud of the way the team played," Keenan said. "It was our best game for sure this year, on a consistent basis. We played against a great, confident team and we had to battle back twice from a goal deficit and found a way to win."

While Calgary enters with smiles on their face, Nashville has suffered two straight setbacks since opening the campaign with consecutive wins.

Most recently, goaltender Chris Mason gave up three goals in the third period as the Predators fell, 5-3, on Thursday to the Phoenix Coyotes. Nashville is 2-1-0 at home this season.

Calgary netminder Miikka Kiprusoff has been less than impressive in the series, managing just a 2-6-1 record through nine career meetings.
