Canadiens go for sixth straight win over Bruins
Oct 26, 2006 - 12:45 PM Montreal (4-2-2) at Boston (2-4-1) 7:00 pm EDTBOSTON (Ticker) - The Montreal Canadiens try to beat the Boston Bruins for the sixth time in a row in their first matchup of the season Thursday.
During the 2005-06 campaign, the Canadiens went 7-1-0 vs. the Bruins, who will be playing the third contest of a six-game homestand.
Both teams are coming off losses to the lone unbeaten in the league, the Buffalo Sabres.
On Monday, Montreal fell, 4-1, to the leaders of the Northeast Division. Mike Johnson scored the lone goal and goaltender Cristobal Huet made 22 saves for the Canadiens, who went 0-for-4 on the power play.
Boston met the same fate last Saturday following a 6-2 setback. Defenseman Wade Brookbank tallied and rookie Phil Kessel scored his first career goal while netminders Hannu Toivonen and Tim Thomas combined to stop 24 shots for the Bruins, who went 0-for-4 with the man advantage, adding to a brutal 4-for-37 mark this season.
Boston's lone win last season against Montreal did come here.
