Capitals conclude homestand against Canucks

Oct 26, 2007 - 6:55 PM Vancouver (4-6-0) at Washington (4-4-0) 7:00 pm EDT

WASHINGTON (Ticker) -- The Washington Capitals conclude a four-game homestand when they take on the Vancouver Canucks on Friday.

Washington scored more than three goals for the first time all season on Wednesday, snapping a four-game losing streak with a 5-3 victory over Tampa Bay.

The Capitals hope the offense continues, but must improve on a power play that ranks 28th in the league. Washington has only scored on four of its 39 chances with the man advantage.

Alex Ovechkin had a goal and two assists in the victory over the Lightning and leads the team with five goals and nine points.

Washington goaltender Olaf Kolzig is 3-2-0 with a 2.42 goals-against average this season.

Vancouver has lost four of its last five games and is concluding a four-game road trip.

The Canucks are led by the Sedins - Henrik and Daniel - who are the top two scorers on the team and have combined for six goals and 19 points.

Roberto Luongo has struggled lately in net for Vancouver, compiling a 3-6-0 record with a 3.01 goals-against average. The 28-year-old has lost his last four starts but has a 2.14 GAA in 28 career games against Washington.

The Capitals are 2-6-1 in the last nine meetings with the Canucks, with both wins coming in overtime. Washington has not beaten Vancouver in regulation since March 28, 1998.
