Minus Hasek, Red Wings host Sharks in playoff rematch

DETROIT (Ticker) -- The Detroit Red Wings are without their top goaltender, but that may not matter against the San Jose Sharks.

Veteran Chris Osgood will be in net in place of Dominik Hasek as the Red Wings aim for their fourth straight win when host the Sharks on Friday.

Hasek, who helped Detroit beat San Jose in the Western Conference semifinals last season, is out indefinitely with a sore hip.

"The Dominator" has posted a 2.68 goals-against average this season and stopped 13 shots in Wednesday's 3-2 win over Vancouver. Tomas Holmstrom scored twice in Wednesday's win and is tied for the team lead with seven goals.

Meanwhile, Detroit may be able to get by without Hasek against San Jose since it has won 11 of the last 15 meetings here, including a pair of playoff games last season.

Hasek's replacement, Osgood has won all three starts this season while boasting a sparkling 1.97 GAA. He stopped 23 shots in a 4-2 win at the Sharks on October 18.

As for San Jose, it has won two straight after opening a four-game road trip with a 4-1 win over Calgary on Monday.

Milan Michalek scored twice in the win, and has a team-leading six goals on the year.

The Sharks would like to get a measure of revenge for last season's playoff loss to the Red Wings in which they held a 2-1 lead before falling in six games.
