Iginla, Flames looking to keep rolling

Oct 30, 2007 - 1:32 PM Nashville (4-6-0) at Calgary (5-3-3) 9:30 pm EDT

CALGARY, Alberta (Ticker) - While the Calgary Flames are beginning to resemble the team that went to the Stanley Cup in 2004, the Nashville Predators do not look anything like they have the past couple seasons.

Jarome Iginla will hope to continue his impressive start when the Flames host the Predators on Tuesday night.

Iginla is looking like a Hart Trophy candidate, tallying six goals and a team-leading 16 points this season. He was held scoreless in Friday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Colorado Avalanche.

The 30-year-old Iginla has been successful against the Predators in his career, notching 16 goals and 34 points in 29 games against the Western Conference foe.

Iginla's linemate Daymond Langkow leads the Flames with eight goals on the season. Kristian Huselius and Alex Tanguay also are off to quick starts, combining for nine goals and 22 points.

Miikka Kiprusoff has started each game in goal for Calgary this season, posting a 3.15 goals-against average and .879 save percentage.

Nashville is struggling to adjust to all of its offseason losses. The club saw left wings Scott Hartnell and Paul Kariya, goaltender Tomas Vokoun, and center Peter Forsberg depart during the offseason.

Jason Arnott and David Legwand have each tried to pick up the slack. Both centers have tallied three goals and five assists on the season. Radek Bonk leads the team with four goals.

Netminder Chris Mason, who had such an impressive 2006-07 campaign that the Predators decided to they no longer needed Vokoun, is 2-6-0 with a 3.73 GAA and .873 save percentage this season.

Mason has lost six straight games after starting the season with two wins in a row, which included a 35-save shutout in the season opener.
