Zetterberg, Osgood look to keep Red Wings rolling vs. Flames

Nov 1, 2007 - 1:35 PM Detroit (10-2-1) at Calgary (6-3-3) 9:00 pm EDT

CALGARY, Alberta (Ticker) -- Thanks to Henrik Zetterberg and Chris Osgood, the Detroit Red Wings have not been affected by the loss of Dominik Hasek.

Zetterberg looks to extend his season-long point streak as well as help the Red Wings to their seventh straight win against the Calgary Flames on Thursday.

Zetterberg, who scored a power-play goal in Tuesday's 2-1 win over Edmonton, has 10 tallies and 12 asists during a 13-game point streak.

Detroit, which leads the Western Conference with 45 goals, lost Hasek last week due to a sore hip. The 14-year veteran, who is 4-2 with a 2.68 goals-against average, is out indefinitely.

Zetterberg's play, and the play of the veteran Osgood, has helped offset the loss of Hasek.

Osgood has been stellar since taking over for Hasek, going 3-0-0 with a 1.33 GAA. The 16-year veteran stopped 19 shots in Tuesday's win.

While Detroit has been forced to its backup goaltender, the Flames have one of the best in 2006 Vezina Trophy winner Miikka Kiprusoff. Kiprusoff signed a six-year, $35 million extension on Monday and then stopped 39 shots in a 5-1 win over Nashville on Tuesday.

The 12-year veteran has gone 4-1-1 during Calgary's seven-game homestand, while not allowing more than three goals in any game. Kiprusoff, who has started every game this season, has been especially tough against the Red Wings here. Since joining the Flames in 2003, he is 3-1-1 with a 1.19 GAA against them at home.

As a result, Calgary is 3-0-1 in its last four games here vs. Detroit.
