Wild try to snap four-game winless streak against Blues
Nov 1, 2007 - 2:10 PM St Louis (6-4-0) at Minnesota (7-3-2) 8:00 pm EDTST. PAUL, Minnesota (Ticker) - The Minnesota Wild will try and snap a four-game winless streak when they host the St. Louis Blues in a matchup of two of the top-five teams in goals-allowed on Thursday.
Minnesota is fourth in the league, allowing 2.17 goals per game, while St. Louis is fifth with giving up just 2.20 scores per game.
After a 7-0-1 start, the Wild are 0-3-1 in their last four games and are starting to battle injuries.
Starting goaltender Niklas Backstrom has missed the last three games with a groin injury, while forwards Pavol Demitra and Marian Gaborik have also missed time.
Brian Rolston leads the Wild with six goals and Pierre-Marc Bouchard has tallied eight assists. The duo are the only players on Minnesota with double-digit points (11).
St. Louis is led by Paul Kariya, who has tallied two goals and 12 assists through his first 10 games with the Blues. Brad Boyes leads the Blues with nine goals, including five in his last four games.
Goaltender Manny Legace has been solid, posting a 2.13 goals-against average with a 5-3-0 record thus far.
The Blues also have the league's second-best penalty kill, allowing just five goals in 48 chances.
The Wild defeated the Blues, 3-1, on October 20 of this season and have won their last six home meetings against St. Louis. The Blues have not won in Minnesota since March 26, 2003.
