Predators aim for consecutive road wins vs. Oilers

EDMONTON, Alberta (Ticker) - The Nashville Predators have picked up some much-needed momentum as they continue their five-game road trip.

Nashville will aim for consecutive road wins when it visits the Edmonton Oilers on Friday.

Backup goaltender Dan Ellis stopped 29 shots to record his second career shutout, and David Legwand added a goal an assist in a 3-0 win over Vancouver on Thursday.

The Predators made the most of their opportunities, scoring three goals on just 15 shots to pick up their first road win in six tries.

Nashville may have a bit of a goaltending controversy after Ellis' solid outing. The No. 1 netminder, Chris Mason has lost a career-high seven straight starts and has a 5.08 goals-against average during the slide.

So far, no announcement has been made as to who will get the start in net.

The Predators' chances of escaping with a win are pretty good since they swept the four-game series last season.

Meanwhile, Edmonton will try and rebound from a 2-1 loss to the New York Rangers on Tuesday in which the game-winning goal was scored with 24 seconds left in regulation.

Dwayne Roloson stopped 32 shots in the loss, and has been victimized by the Oilers' lack of offense. Edmonton, which has lost eight of its last 11 games, has scored more than three goals just three times in that span.
