Leclaire, Nash look to keep Columbus rolling
Nov 4, 2007 - 3:15 PM St Louis (7-5-0) at Columbus (7-3-2) 5:00 pm ESTCOLUMBUS, Ohio (Ticker) - Pascal Leclaire and Rick Nash have the Columbus Blue Jackets off to their best start in franchise history.
The duo will look to continue their stellar play when the Blue Jackets host their Central Division rival St. Louis Blues on Sunday.
Leclaire sat out Thursday's 2-1 shootout loss to Anaheim, but will be back in net and aim for his league-leading fifth shutout.
The six-year veteran, who is 6-2-0 with a 1.25 goals-against average this season, stopped 34 shots in a 4-1 win over Los Angeles on Wednesday. He has been even better at home, going 4-1-1 with three shutouts here.
While Leclaire has been turning away all comers, Nash has been a nightmare for opposing goaltenders.
The first overall pick of the 2002 draft, Nash leads the team with nine goals and 15 points, and has scored in each of the past two meetings between the clubs.
The man responsible for keeping Nash in check will be St. Louis goaltender Manny Legace. Legace, who stopped 19 shots in Saturday's 3-2 loss to Chicago, may be in goal because of his strong track record against the Blue Jackets.
The 14-year veteran has won four straight starts against Columbus, and is 13-4-0 with a tie and a 2.49 GAA against the Blue Jackets.
St. Louis, which has alternated wins and losses in its last seven games, is just 1-for-24 on the power play in its last five.
