Sabres look for second straight win

BUFFALO, New York (Ticker) - After snapping a three-game losing streak, the Buffalo Sabres try to win back-to-back games on Friday when they host the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The Sabres ended October with consecutive wins before suffering three straight setbacks to the Boston Bruins, Florida Panthers and Montreal Canadiens. Buffalo got back on track Wednesday, beating the Bruins 2-1 on the strength of Clarke MacArthur's overtime goal.

MacArthur was appearing in his first game this season for the Sabres after being called up from Rochester of the AHL on Tuesday. The 22-year-old left wing played in 19 games for the Sabres last season, scoring three goals and four assists.

The Maple Leafs have been dealing with their own struggles lately, losing three of their last four while being outscored 17-7.

Despite the slide, Toronto still ranks fourth in the NHL with 3.31 goals per game, but they're surrender 3.81 goals to the opposition.

Vesa Toskala, who was acquired from the San Jose Sharks in exchange for three draft picks over the offseason, hasn't found the form that allowed him to go 24-10-1 in 2006-07. The 30-year-old netminder is 5-6-1 this season with a 3.72 goals-against average and a .886 save percentage.
