Avalanche look to continue winning ways

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (Ticker) - The Colorado Avalanche look to continue their winning ways on Friday when they visit the Vancouver Canucks.

The Avalanche, who have won six of their last seven games, are currently tied with the Minnesota Wild for first place in the Northwestern Division.

Colorado is coming off a 4-3 shootout win against the Edmonton Oilers in their last game on Wednesday night. Ian Laperriere led the Avalanche with two goals and an assist in the victory.

Vancouver won the last meeting, 4-3, against the Avalanche at the Pepsi Center on Saturday. Daniel Sedin had two goals and an assist in the victory and has 17 tallies and nine helpers in 36 career games against the Avalanche.

The Canucks won their second straight game on Thursday, registering a 3-2 victory against the Calgary Flames. Vancouver scored three goals in less then six minutes in the second period and Roberto Luongo held off the Flames with 36 saves - 22 in the third period.

Luongo is 5-8-0 this season with a 2.93 goals-against average and a .899 save percentage. The 28-year-old netminder has yet to find his 2006-07 form when he went 47-22-6 with a 2.29 GAA and a .921 save percentage.
