Senators try to extend win streak against slumping Bruins
Oct 28, 2006 - 2:22 PM Ottawa (5-4-0) at Boston (2-5-1) 7:00 pm EDTBOSTON (Ticker) -- Both the Ottawa Senators and the Boston Bruins have staggered to open the season. However, the Senators have climbed out of their hole while the Bruins keep sinking.
Ottawa aims for its fourth straight victory when it plays the first of consecutive road games at Boston on Saturday.
The Senators looked impressive in throttling the Toronto Maple Leafs, 7-2, on Thursday for their fourth win in their last five games.
Dany Heatley recorded a hat trick in the second period, extending his goal-scoring streak to four games. Jason Spezza had a goal and four assists while defenseman Joe Corvo finished with a career-high five points.
The Bruins absorbed a heartbreaking 2-1 loss to the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday for their second straight setback and fifth in their last six games. Montreal's Andrei Markov scored the game-winner on the power play with just 1.2 seconds remaining.
Phil Kessel and defenseman Zdeno Chara both scored for Boston, which went 1-for-8 with the man advantage. The Bruins signed Chara - whose goal was his first of the season - away from the Senators in the offseason.
Ottawa has lost its last three games at Boston.
