BUFFALO, New York (Ticker) -- So far this season, the only thing wrong with the Buffalo Sabres has been their new uniforms.

Other than that, the Sabres have been perfect in winning their first 10 games. On Saturday, they look to set an NHL record for consecutive wins to open the season when they host the Atlanta Thrashers.

Buffalo has also won a franchise-record 15 consecutive games dating back to last season. This campaign, the Sabres have decisively beaten their opponents, scoring 49 goals while allowing only 23.

The Sabres' latest victory was a 3-0 triumph over the New York Islanders on Thursday. Maxim Afinogenov had a goal and an assist and Ryan Miller stopped 29 shots to record his first shutout of the season.

Afinogenov has six goals and 10 assists in 10 games this season while Chris Drury is tied for the league lead in goals with 10.

The Thrashers, who have the league's other top goal scorer in Marian Hossa, will try to rebound from a 3-2 shootout loss to the Philadelphia Flyers on Thursday.

Ilya Kovalchuk had a goal and assisted on the tally by Bobby Holik for the Thrashers, who went 0-for-4 on the power play. Kovalchuk owns a six-game point streak, collecting seven goals and six assists during that span.

The two teams split their four-game series last season.
