Panthers try to close three-game road trip on positive note
Oct 28, 2006 - 3:23 PM Florida (5-6-1) at NY Islanders (3-4-2) 7:00 pm EDTUNIONDALE, New York (Ticker) -- The Florida Panthers wrap up their three-game road trip against the New York Islanders on Saturday.
After opening their trek with a 4-2 win over the New York Rangers on Wednesday, the Panthers fell, 2-0, to the New Jersey Devils on Thursday. Goaltender Alex Auld made 21 saves for Florida, which outshot New Jersey, 29-23.
The Panthers could be without defenseman Mike Van Ryn, who suffered an apparent left shoulder injury following a hard hit by Cam Janssen in the second period.
With a 3-0 loss to the unbeaten Buffalo Sabres on Thursday, the Islanders absorbed their third loss in four outings and were shutout for the second time this season. Netminder Rick DiPietro turned away 24 shots for the Islanders, who slipped to 2-1-2 on their seven-game homestand.
These teams split four meetings last season.
