Columbus looks to build on Leclaire's first career shutout

Oct 28, 2006 - 3:36 PM Columbus (3-4-1) at New Jersey (5-4-1) 7:30 pm EDT

EAST RUTHERFORD, New Jersey (Ticker) -- The Columbus Blue Jackets will look to build on Pascal Leclaire's first career shutout when they face the New Jersey Devils on Saturday.

The Blue Jackets snapped a four-game losing streak with a 2-0 win over the Los Angeles Kings on Friday, with Leclaire stopping 38 shots for the memorable win. Nikolai Zherdev and Fredrik Modin both scored for Columbus.

The 24-year-old Leclaire earned the starting goaltending job when Marc Denis was traded to the Tampa Bay Lighting in the offseason. He went 11-15-0 in 31 starts last season.

The Devils are also coming off a shutout as Martin Brodeur turned aside 29 shots in a 2-0 victory over the Florida Panthers on Thursday. It was the 82nd career shutout for Brodeur, tying him for fourth on the all-time win list with Jacques Plante.

Brodeur has never shut out Columbus.

New Jersey had lost three games in a row and four of five before Thursday's triumph.
