Slumping Oilers look to break skid against Capitals
Oct 28, 2006 - 4:10 PM Washington (3-2-4) at Edmonton (6-4-0) 10:00 pm EDTEDMONTON, Alberta (Ticker) -- The Edmonton Oilers have lost their last two games, in exceedingly poor fashion, and look to rebound when they host the Washington Capitals on Saturday.
Edmonton has been outscored, 12-4, in dropping its last two road games at Anaheim and Phoenix. In its 6-2 setback to the Coyotes on Thursday, the Oilers only killed 2-of-4 power-play opportunities.
Fernando Pisani and Peter Sykora scored for the Oilers, who actually outshot the Coyotes, 23-19.
Pisani, who had 14 goals, including five game-winners in the playoffs last season, scored his first goal of the season.
Edmonton has won six straight home games against Washington while outscoring the Capitals, 31-11.
The Capitals try to rebound from a 3-2 shootout loss to the Vancouver Canucks on Friday.
Washington was blanked in the shootout by Vancouver netminder Roberto Luongo, with Alexander Ovechkin beating Luongo but hitting the goalpost on his attempt.
Dainius Zubrus and Ovechkin scored in regulation for the Capitals, who were outshot, 44-21.
No one has shouted yet.
