Flames try to avoid sixth straight loss, face Wild

CALGARY, Alberta (Ticker) - The Calgary Flames try to avoid a sixth straight loss Tuesday when they host the Minnesota Wild.

The Flames have not dropped six in a row since November 2002.

It has been a struggle for Flames goaltender Miikka Kiprusoff, who has a 3.74 goals-against average during the losing streak. But Kiprusoff is 9-1-0 with a 1.62 GAA in 11 career starts against Minnesota at home.

For the season, Kiprusoff is 6-8-3 with a 3.19 GAA and .884 save percentage just two seasons removed from winning the Vezina trophy in 2005-06.

The Wild are on a slide of their own, posting just a 2-5-1 record after starting the season with just one loss in their first eight games.

Minnesota suffered a 4-2 loss to the Colorado Avalanche in its last game on Sunday and continues to play without the services of wingers Marion Gaborik and Pavol Demitra, who are both recovering from groin injuries.

Demitra has missed six of the last eight games and has 10 points in 10 games this season. Gaborik, who is tied for second on the team with 13 points, has missed four of the Wild's last six contests.
