Blue Jackets, Blues trying to build momentum

ST. LOUIS (Ticker) - After ending losing streaks, the Columbus Blue Jackets and St. Louis Blues try to build some momentum when they face off on Friday.

The Blue Jackets got back on track Wednesday with a 4-2 win over the Chicago Blackhawks, snapping a four-game slide. Sergei Fedorov scored a goal and added an assist and Pascal Leclaire made 16 saves, leading Columbus to just its second win this month.

Fedorov continued his hot play against the Blackhawks after his seven-game point streak came to an end during Monday's 4-1 loss to the Nashville Predators. The 37-year-old center has two goals and seven assists in his last nine games.

Despite the recent losing streak, Leclaire has been one of the NHL's best goaltender's this season, ranking first in the league with five shutouts. The 25-year-old also ranks second in the NHL with a 1.55 goals-against average and is third amongst netminder's with a .944 save percentage.

The Blues ended a three-game drought by scoring four goals in the second period - two by rookie David Perron - en route to a 4-3 triumph over the Western Conference-leading Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday.

Perron already has four goals and three assists in eight games for the Blues this season. The 19-year-old left wing led all first-year players with 39 goals and 44 assists last season in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, leading Lewiston to the league championship.
