Brodeur still searching for 500th win

NEWARK, New Jersey (Ticker) - Martin Brodeur's quest for his 500th win will continue when the New Jersey Devils host the New York Islanders on Friday.

Brodeur is trying to become just the second goaltender in NHL history to reach the 500-win mark. The only goaltender to achieve that feat is former Montreal Canadiens and Colorado Avalanche netminder Patrick Roy, who retired with 551 wins.

This will be the second time that Brodeur tries to get win No. 500 against the Islanders. Brodeur's Devils lost to the Islanders, 2-1, on Saturday, with Miroslav Satan scoring the game-winning goal in that contest.

The Devils also will welcome back the services of right winger Jamie Langenbrunner, who will play in his second game this season following surgery to repair a sports hernia. Langenbrunner scored a pair of goals in a loss to the New York Rangers on Wednesday. The Islanders come into the game after suffering a 3-2 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday night. The loss is the second consecutive for the Islanders after falling to the Philadelphia Flyers by the same score on Monday.

After winning four consecutive games at home, New York moved to 2-4-0 on the road following the back-to-back losses.
